Improving Analysis - Advancing Fair, Just, and Effective Policing
Amanda Bruner is an expert in crime analysis and criminal justice research. She currently works as an associate research analyst in CNA’s Center for Justice Research and Innovation supporting the Crime Analyst in Residence Program. Her primary research interest is crime analysis.
Prior to joining CNA, Bruner served as the crime analyst for the Matthews (NC) Police Department, where, in accordance with the Stratified Policing Model, she provided action- and evaluation-oriented products to police personnel to support proactive crime reduction. She also has experience as a corporate intelligence specialist.
Bruner is an Adjunct Criminal Justice Professor concentrating in crime analysis at Radford University, the University of South Carolina Upstate, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bruner is an active member and volunteer for the Carolinas Crime Analysis Association (CCAA) and the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA).
Bruner holds both a Master of Science in Law Enforcement Intelligence & Analysis and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Her professional work is featured throughout “Crime Analysis with Crime Mapping” (2022 5th Ed.), written by Dr. Rachel Santos.
